How to say "Stay Strong" in Italian » answer
by leeesza (UN), 2014-03-26, 07:31  Spam?
I'm trying to find a two worded way to say "Stay Strong" "Keep Strong" "Live Strong" "Remain Strong" "Be Strong" "Have Strength" (you get the point) in Italian.  It's needed for a project I'm doing and I need it to be two words that make sense.  I heard "Rimani Forte" is correct but not used much in Italy, and "Rimanere Forte" is the infinitive form so that would not work.  I guess I'm looking for an imperative form other that "Sii Forte."

I would greatly appreciate any help!!! Thank you!

:)

lombardia is famous not only for its panettone, but also for the milk cookies or milanesini. I love sweets and that is why i chose to talk about these delicious cookies today. they are buttery, soft and crumbly . Cookies are the ultimate comfort food and everyones childhood favourite. nothing says "home" more, than a smell of freshly baked cookies. I hope that you will like it too and here is the recipe on how to make them.

Volevo solo farvi sapere che [name] è ancora innamorato di te ed è costantemente parlando di te a tutti.

So I am not too sure what this is saying, I think it is not written properly in Italian (I might be wrong) but think it is trying to say something like "I want to tell you that the person is talking about you still"

If you are able to translate this, I would be extremely grat

"Curatrice" and "curassi" in The Anonymous Commentary on Theatetus » answer
by Philosoph (UN), 2014-02-18, 14:34  Spam?
I'm puzzled over two lines in this work. I have the Greek original and an Italian translation; neither is clear to me in meaning.

The first puzzle is the phrase: "appropriazione curatrice"

This is a reference to a particular variety of oikeiosis, or appropriation (a Stoic concept), but I don't understand the meaning of curatrice (κηδεμονική in the original) in this context. Could "appropriazione curatrice" perhaps be translated as "affectionate appropriation"?

The second is the line:

"Percio disse « se mi curassi di piu di quelli di Cirene », mostrando che questa appropriazione e 'curatrice'."

I am very uncertain about curatrice here, too. The second half of the line could perhaps be translated as "demonstrating that this [appropriation] is caring". I have absolutely no idea what the first half of the line might mean; the reference to Cyrene, particularly, is going right over my head.

I'll be very appreciative of any help!

Volevo chiedere se le seguenti sono corrette e come le completereste:
I am applying to Xyz Company because it would allow me to nurture several interests and capabilities simultaneously that I regard as essential for a successful career in the steel industry.
The first of these is that I am really interested in applying my skills and competencies in the field of materials and metallurgical engineering to real world problems as well as in developing these skills further. From this point of view, I think that Xyz Company represents a great opportunity, due to the types of skills involved and the significant financial resources allocated to materials applied research.
Secondly, given the size of the company and the complexity and diversity of the projects, this experience would give me the opportunity to exploit...
